The Directorate of Narcotics Crime at the National Police Criminal Investigation Department (Bareskrim Polri) has arrested two drug couriers during a transaction at a rented house in Koja, North Jakarta, seizing five packages of cannabis.

Director of Narcotics Crime at Bareskrim Polri, Brigadier General Eko Hadi Santoso, explained that the operation was a follow-up to public information. The information was acted upon by a team led by the Head of Sub-Directorate II of the Narcotics Crime Directorate, Senior Commissioner Awaluddin.

The team conducted surveillance and profiling of the perpetrators. On Tuesday afternoon (16 June), the team successfully located two suspicious individuals.

‘The team then conducted surveillance to determine the location that would be used as the transaction site, and at that moment, two suspicious people on a motorcycle were spotted,’ Brigadier General Eko Hadi stated on Thursday (18 June 2026).

The team immediately pursued and secured the two suspected individuals carrying a package. They were apprehended while about to conduct a transaction at a rented house in North Jakarta.

‘Two people suspected of conducting a transaction at the Opung Hercules boarding house in Koja, North Jakarta, were secured,’ he added.

The two suspects arrested were Ahmad Afandi and Muhamad Damai Ihwani. Based on initial interrogation, they confessed to being ordered by a controller to transport the cannabis from Bogor and Bandar Lampung.

‘The cannabis-type narcotics were brought from Bogor and Bandar Lampung, controlled by a person claiming the initial A,’ he continued.

Brigadier General Eko Hadi mentioned that the suspect from Bandar Lampung received the package from an unknown person on the orders of ‘A’ in front of a campus in Bandar Lampung on 15 June 2026 at around 9 p.m. local time and then headed straight to Bekasi.

‘The roles of suspects Ahmad Afandi and Muhamad Damai Ihwani were as couriers, intermediaries for buying and selling, carrying, storing, and transacting cannabis-type narcotics under the orders of A (real name unknown),’ he said.

The cannabis was planned to be distributed in the North Jakarta area as per A’s orders. The two suspects were promised a payment of Rp 1 million per package if the package was successfully delivered to the recipient.

Both suspects are currently undergoing intensive examination. Bareskrim will continue to expand the investigation into the wider network.
