Bareskrim Questions Codeblu over Clairmont Defamation Case
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - Bareskrim Polri examined food vlogger William Anderson, alias Codeblu, as a witness in the alleged defamation and extortion case filed by the Clairmont cake company on Tuesday (21/4/2026). “Yes, he is being questioned to obtain his statement as a witness,” said Kasubdit II of the Directorate of Cybercrime at Bareskrim Polri, Kombes Pol Andrian Pramudianto, when contacted by Kompas.com on Tuesday (21/4/2026). Andrian did not provide further details regarding the examination. Codeblu was reported to the Cybercrime Directorate of Bareskrim Polri by PT Prima Hidup Lestari, the producer of the Clairmont-branded cakes, for alleged defamation and extortion. The report was registered under police report number: LP/B/51/II/2026/SPKT/BARESKRIM POLRI dated 2 February 2026. The case originated from Codeblu’s video upload featuring a negative review of Clairmont cakes, accusing the products of being mouldy and the processing unhygienic. Clairmont was also accused of distributing mouldy cakes to orphanages and reusing discarded toppers before reselling them. However, instead of apologising, Codeblu is alleged to have committed extortion by offering consultations to improve the company’s image. The matter was initially handled by Jakarta Selatan Police Resort, and both parties had attempted mediation. However, those efforts did not reach an agreement because Codeblu did not meet Clairmont’s condition of compensating for the damages caused.
