Bareskrim Pursues PT TSI Director in Illegal Mobile Phone Import Case
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Smuggling Law Enforcement Task Force of the Directorate of Special Economic Crimes, under the Indonesian National Police’s Criminal Investigation Agency (Bareskrim), is pursuing the whereabouts of the Director of PT TSI, identified by the initials TW, who is a suspect in an alleged illegal importation case of used mobile phones and other goods.
The Director of Special Economic Crimes at Bareskrim Polri, Brigadier General Ade Safri Simanjuntak, stated that the authorities have placed TW on the most wanted list (DPO).
“Currently, investigators are continuing the search for the individual concerned and are coordinating with relevant agencies to carry out forced arrest measures and further legal processes,” he said in a statement in Jakarta on Wednesday.
In addition to TW, there are three other suspects in this case: DCP, also known as PR (a Chinese national), SJ (a Chinese national), and MT, who serves as the Director of PT TSL.
Ade stated that the case files for the three suspects have been declared complete (P-21) by the Attorney General’s Office of Indonesia, meaning they will proceed to trial shortly.
Regarding the suspects’ roles, he explained that DCP is alleged to have acted as the party controlling the illegal importation activities of electronic goods, specifically mobile phones, ranging from the procurement of goods from abroad to the distribution process within Indonesia.
Meanwhile, MT and TW are alleged to have played roles in assisting the creation, management, and provision of documents used to facilitate these illegal importation activities.
In this case, investigators have also seized several pieces of evidence, including Android phones, iPhones, and other electronic devices valued at Rp250 billion, as well as baby supplies valued at Rp3 billion.
Furthermore, hundreds of chargers, various packing tools, and servicing equipment with a total value of Rp10 billion were also seized.
He emphasised that this law enforcement action is a tangible implementation of the Indonesian National Police’s support for President Prabowo Subianto’s ‘Astacita’ programme, specifically the seventh pillar which focuses on strengthening legal reform, preventing corruption, and eradicating economic crimes and smuggling.
“The Smuggling Law Enforcement Task Force of Bareskrim Polri will consistently intensify supervision and law enforcement at all entry points and borders of Indonesia, whether via sea, land, or air, to prevent smuggling crimes that result in the leakage of state revenue, damage to national wealth, and losses to state finances,” he said.
