Directorate of General Criminal Offences (Dittipidum) of the Indonesian National Police’s Criminal Investigation Division (Bareskrim) is examining 40 foreign nationals who are suspects in an online gambling (judol) syndicate headquartered on Hayam Wuruk Street, West Jakarta. Head of Sub-Directorate III of Dittipidum Bareskrim Police Commissioner Dony Alexander said they will examine 321 individuals named as suspects in the case, but the inspections will be conducted in stages.

‘For today 40, tomorrow 40 more. We will examine in stages, because we must coordinate the location and timing. Then with the help of investigators and translators, we can take BAP (Berita Acara Pemeriksaan) statements from the additional suspects,’ Dony told reporters in Jakarta on Tuesday (19/5).

Dony noted that in this examination, the suspects are accompanied by their respective lawyers. During the initial raid and BAP, there was no legal representation for the suspects.

He explained the examination aims to delve into each suspect’s role. After the examinations are completed, the suspects will be returned to Immigration Detention.

‘The examination relates to each one’s role. The process is ongoing, and the development is continuing,’ he said.

Earlier, Bareskrim Polri raided the online gambling headquarters operated by hundreds of foreign nationals from various countries at Hayam Wuruk Plaza Tower Office Building, Taman Sari, West Jakarta, on Saturday (9/5). Police arrested a total of 320 foreign nationals from various countries.

Details: 57 Chinese nationals, 228 Vietnamese nationals, 11 Lao nationals, 13 Myanmar nationals, 3 Malaysian nationals, 5 Thai nationals, and 3 Cambodian nationals.

Of those detained, 275 have been named as suspects. The suspects are charged under Article 426 and/or Article 607 in conjunction with Article 20 and/or Article 21 of Law No. 1 of 2023 on the Indonesian Penal Code and Law No. 1 of 2026 on the Penalty Adjustment.
