Director of Narcotics Crimes at Bareskrim Polri, Brigadier General Eko Hadi Santoso, stated that the case has been taken over in light of new findings regarding the involvement of the former Head of Narcotics Unit at Kutai Barat Police Resort, AKP Deky Jonathan Sasiang. Brigadier General Eko Hadi conveyed that this step was taken after investigators discovered facts of Deky’s involvement in the drug syndicate network led by Ishak. “Investigators from the Narcotics Crime Directorate at Bareskrim Polri have obtained new facts related to AKP Deky Jonathan Sasiang’s involvement in the operational business of illicit drug distribution carried out by the drug kingpin syndicate Ishak and associates,” said Eko in his statement on Tuesday (12/5/2026). The narcotics case perpetrated by Ishak’s syndicate was initially uncovered by Melak Police Sector on 11 February 2026. Now, the handling of the case has been decided to be taken over by Bareskrim Polri. Nevertheless, Eko has not yet provided further explanation on the allegations of Deky’s involvement in the network. Nor on the efforts to handle ethics against Deky. “The handling of the Ishak Drug Kingpin Syndicate Case and associates (Kutai Barat Drug Syndicate) is currently taken over by the Narcotics Crime Directorate at Bareskrim Polri,” he concluded.
