Bareskrim Police conducted the handover of the suspects and evidence (barang bukti) at the Grobogan District Prosecutor’s Office,” said Deputy Head of Subdirectorate II of the Directorate of Cybercrime Investigation at Bareskrim Polri, Commissioner Andrian Pramudianto, to reporters on Wednesday (6/5/2026). The four suspects are initialled RW, WTP, FN, and RJ. Andrian stated that this case originated from a police report numbered LP/A/33/XII/2025/SPKT.DITTIPIDSIBER/BARESKRIM POLRI dated 19 December 2025. The case’s disclosure was initially announced by Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo during a working meeting with Commission III of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) at the parliamentary complex in Senayan, Jakarta, on Monday (26/1). The Police Chief mentioned that suspects had already been identified in this case. “One of the prominent cybercrimes is the handling of SMS blast phishing cases using the e-ticket modus operandi,” said the Police Chief. The Police Chief explained that the case’s revelation began with a report received by the authorities. Initially, police discovered 11 phishing links and 5 international-format phone numbers used for the cybercrime. From this report, similar cases were subsequently found in the Central Sulawesi Regional Police (Polda Sulteng). These SMS messages containing phishing links directed victims to fake e-ticket websites, ensnaring them in scams. From information obtained by detikcom on Wednesday (28/1), the case came to light after a report from the Attorney General’s Office (Kejagung) in December 2025 regarding the circulation of several fake links impersonating government institutions. The Cybercrime Investigation Directorate (Dittipidsiber) then moved to follow up on the complaint. Based on intensive investigations, another police report with a similar modus operandi was found in the Palu area, Central Sulawesi. Investigators from Dittipidsiber uncovered hundreds of phishing links as well as several phone numbers used in SMS blasts. The Dittipidsiber team also traced the perpetrators’ locations to Banten and Central Java. Bareskrim has arrested several individuals involved in the case, ranging from SMS blast operators to those providing SIM cards. The evidence seized by investigators includes computer devices, mobile phones, dozens of SIM boxes, SIM cards from various operators, and bank accounts suspected to be linked to the case.
