Bareskrim Foils Shipment of Hundreds of Drug Vapes to Kampung Ambon
The Narcotics Crime Directorate of Bareskrim Polri has foiled the smuggling of drug vapes to Kampung Ambon, West Jakarta. Two suspects were detained in the operation.
Director of Narcotics Crime at Bareskrim Polri, Brigadier General Eko Hadi Santoso, said the case began when Sub-Directorate I of the Narcotics Crime Directorate was conducting enhanced routine activities at Bakauheni Port, South Lampung, on Tuesday (18/8) at around 15.00 WIB.
“Members of Sub-Directorate I, who were carrying out enhanced routine activities at Bakauheni Port, inspected a bus with registration number BA-7024-NU,” said Brigadier General Eko Hadi in his statement on Wednesday (19/8/2026).
During the inspection, officers became suspicious of a passenger named Nur Muhammad Iskandarsyah, who was found carrying a bag. Upon examination, the bag was found to contain hundreds of drug vapes.
“The individual was found carrying a bag containing 381 pieces of suspected etomidate destined for Kampung Ambon, West Jakarta,” he added.
Investigators then followed up on the discovery. Based on the suspect’s account, the drug vapes were to be handed over to someone at Kalideres Terminal.
“As a result of the case development, at around 23.00 WIB, officers arrested the recipient of the goods, named Jhony Pentury, at Kalideres Terminal,” he continued.
Meanwhile, according to Jhony Pentury’s statement, the etomidate was obtained from an inmate at Batam Prison.
“From the interrogation, information was obtained that the etomidate was sourced from an inmate at Batam Prison named Sekal Syahzuardi (a former police officer who was dishonourably discharged in 2025 over a drug case) and that the etomidate was ordered by an inmate named Selo (a female prison inmate),” he said.
Currently, investigators from Sub-Directorate I of the Narcotics Crime Directorate at Bareskrim Polri are continuing to examine both suspects to develop the network above them.
