The Criminal Investigation Agency (Bareskrim) of the Indonesian National Police has foiled the delivery of 5,830 grams, or 5.8 kilograms, of cannabis in Banyuwangi, East Java. Three suspects were arrested in Banyuwangi and Malang, East Java.

Bareskrim’s Director of Drug Crimes, Brigadier General Eko Hadi Santoso, stated the package was to be sent via an expedition service from the Padang area on 11 June. Police traced the sender’s address and arrested a suspect with the initials CM on Saturday (13/6).

‘Around 10 p.m. Western Indonesia Time, Sub-Directorate IV personnel and the NIC Task Force arrested one suspect,’ Eko said in a written statement on Tuesday (16/6/2026).

Eko stated that CM admitted to being ordered to collect the package, a brown cardboard box containing cannabis, by another suspect, FM. CM reportedly received a payment of Rp 350,000.

‘He had collected packages containing cannabis received by CM 17 times, with each package weighing 5,000 grams,’ he said.

Police also arrested another suspect with the initials FCS, who acted as a money collector and courier. Interrogation results revealed the drug syndicate was controlled by an inmate in Malang named Abid.

‘According to inmate Abid’s statement, he has been dealing cannabis since August 2025 until June 2026, with an estimated three deliveries per month, with amounts of 2 kg, 3 kg, 4 kg, and 5 kg,’ he stated.

Abid claimed to have obtained the cannabis from Martin, who is still being sought by police. The cannabis was purchased for Rp 5 million per kilogram.
