Bareskrim exposes police officer involvement in B Fashion Hotel narcotics case

The Narcotics Crime Directorate of the Indonesian National Police’s Criminal Investigation Agency (Bareskrim) has uncovered the involvement of a police officer in a suspected narcotics trafficking case at B Fashion Hotel in West Jakarta. The officer, identified as AFH, was a guest at the hotel and was arrested during the raid, later named as a suspect. ‘Yes, it is a police officer. We are not covering up the involvement,’ said Bareskrim Narcotics Crime Directorate Director Brigadier General Eko Hadi Santoso to media in Jakarta on Monday. He stated that the officer is now facing both ethical and criminal proceedings. Previously, Eko Hadi revealed that ecstasy and etomidate vape were allegedly trafficked secretly by some employees and guests outside the management’s knowledge. ‘Following investigations into the management of B Fashion Hotel and The Seven Spa, it was found that those within the operational structure were aware of the drug use activities,’ he added. A total of 16 ecstasy pills and 111 etomidate vape cartridges were seized. The operation is estimated to have saved 127 lives. Eko Hadi also stated that over the hotel’s 12-year operation, an estimated 328,500 to 657,000 ecstasy pills worth between Rp32.8 billion and Rp67.5 billion, and 21,900 to 54,750 etomidate vape cartridges valued at Rp6.5 billion to Rp16.4 billion had been distributed. ‘The estimated number of people who may have consumed ecstasy and etomidate vape at the hotel ranges from 339,450 to 684,375,’ he said.
