Bareskrim Escalates Investigation into Alleged Illegal Access Reported by Mirae Asset Customers
The handling of the case regarding alleged illegal access reported by a number of customers against PT Mirae Asset Sekuritas Indonesia has entered a new chapter. The Directorate of Cyber Crime at the Criminal Investigation Agency (Bareskrim) of the Indonesian National Police has elevated the case from the inquiry stage to the investigation stage. The complainants’ legal representative, Krisna Murti, stated that his party has received a Notification of Investigation Development (SP2HP) from investigators, which states that sufficient preliminary evidence of a criminal offence has been found in the case. “We, as the complainants, have received the SP2HP from Cyber Bareskrim. The content states that after an inquiry was conducted, sufficient preliminary evidence was found that a criminal offence has occurred,” Krisna Murti told reporters on Sunday, 5 July 2026. According to Krisna, the report filed by his clients covers several alleged criminal offences, including illegal access, fund transfers, consumer protection violations, and alleged money laundering. The events were reported to have occurred in Jakarta in early October 2025. With the case status elevated to the investigation stage, Krisna believes investigators have followed up on the customers’ report in accordance with applicable legal mechanisms. “We extend our great appreciation to Cyber Bareskrim for elevating our report to an investigation. This means that sufficient preliminary evidence of this alleged criminal act has indeed been found here,” said Krisna. He explained that in the next stage, investigators will complete the investigation administration, including issuing a Notification of Commencement of Investigation (SPDP) to be submitted to the Attorney General’s Office and the relevant parties. Krisna hopes the legal process can proceed objectively to provide legal certainty for all parties. “Once again, we give our highest appreciation to Cyber Bareskrim,” he said. Meanwhile, PT Mirae Asset Sekuritas Indonesia stated in an official release that the alleged illegal access case is still under investigation with the Financial Services Authority (OJK). The process also involves Self-Regulatory Organizations (SRO) and the Indonesian Financial Transaction Reports and Analysis Centre (PPATK). “From the initial examination, there are strong indications that the customer shared their password and account access with another person, which is a serious violation of security guidelines and potentially poses risks to the account. This finding is still being investigated further,” said Mirae Asset.
