Bareskrim Dismantles Etomidate Trafficking Ring from Thailand, Four Arrested

The National Police’s Criminal Investigation Agency (Bareskrim) has dismantled a network distributing liquid etomidate from Thailand. Officers arrested four individuals in two separate locations, one of which was an apartment in the Pluit area of North Jakarta. Dittipidnarkoba Bareskrim Polri Brigadier General Eko Hadi Santoso stated the operation took place on Tuesday (4/8/2026). Police seized a total of 210 millilitres of liquid etomidate from the suspects. “On Tuesday (4/8) at around 3.30 p.m. WIB, the Sub-Directorate III team arrested a man named Julian who had collected a package containing liquid etomidate in the lobby of Tower D, Apartment G,” said Brigadier General Eko in a statement on Wednesday (5/8/2026). Julian’s arrest led police to pursue other suspects. Based on interrogation results, Julian admitted he was ordered by Ruddy Irwanto (43) to collect the package and store it in room 23CB of Apartment G. Police swiftly moved to arrest Ruddy Irwanto in front of the apartment. Ruddy told investigators that the illicit goods belonged to individuals named Henhen and Edo, who are currently on the wanted list. “Ruddy Irwanto was only instructed to collect the package from the lobby, store it in unit 23CB, and then leave it. He was promised a payment of around Rp30 to 40 million for this,” Eko explained. The investigation then extended to West Jakarta. Officers arrested two women, Dewita Indah Sari (33) and her younger sister Dewina Cloei (23), in the lobby of the LTR Apartment in Taman Sari in the early hours of Wednesday (5/8/2026). The two are suspected of facilitating the shipment of the package from Thailand. Dewita was responsible for tracking the package’s location, while Dewina assisted in paying the customs duties to release it from the shipping authority. “Dewita Indah Sari knew that Irwanto had mentioned a package from Thailand containing liquid etomidate and asked for her help to track the shipment. Ruddy Irwanto then asked Dewina Cloei to pay the tax for the package,” Eko clarified. In addition to the 210 ml of liquid etomidate, police also seized electronic evidence, including an iPhone 16 Pro Max and an iPhone 17 Pro Max, from the suspects. Eko noted the street value of the liquid narcotic is estimated at Rp630 million. He added that through this operation, the police have saved 105 lives from the dangers of drug abuse. The suspects face charges under Article 119 paragraph (2) in conjunction with Article 132 paragraph (1) of Republic of Indonesia Law No. 35 of 2009 on Narcotics, along with related articles in Law No. 1 of 2023 on the Criminal Code.
