Bareskrim Destroys Hundreds of Ecstasy Pills Seized from Rokan Hilir Drug Network
The Directorate of Drug Crimes (Dittipidnarkoba) of the Criminal Investigation Unit (Bareskrim) of the Indonesian National Police destroyed 389.5 ecstasy pills on Friday (12/6/2026) in Jakarta. The narcotics were evidence seized from suspect Muhammad Azmi (30). The destruction, witnessed by representatives from the Attorney General’s Office and the Police Forensic Laboratory (Puslabfor), was carried out under strict supervision by Provos personnel. Dittipidnarkoba Bareskrim Polri Chief Brigadier General Eko Hadi Santoso stated that the destruction was mandated by law to prevent misuse of evidence and ensure legal certainty. The suspect Azmi was also present to witness the process. A total of 404.5 pills were initially seized, with 15 pills retained for forensic testing and trial evidence.
Muhammad Azmi was arrested by a Bareskrim team led by Senior Commissioner Handik Zusen on 24 February 2026 in Rokan Hilir, Riau. The operation began with a tip-off from the public about rampant drug trafficking in the Bangko Pusako area. During the initial arrest at a roadside stall, police found a sling bag containing dozens of ecstasy pills of various brands, including green ‘WA’, pink ‘Superman’, and ‘Heineken’, along with nine Happy Five pills. A subsequent search of the suspect’s house in Sintong Village uncovered a larger stash of 350 ecstasy pills and 30 Happy Five pills hidden in a plastic bag and a wallet. Under interrogation, Azmi admitted to receiving a total of 1,000 ecstasy pills from a supplier named Haradongan Juntak and had transferred IDR 20 million in sales proceeds to a holding account. Police attempted to arrest Haradongan Juntak at his residence, but he had already fled. Authorities suspect Juntak is linked to a previous major drug case involving the arrest of Piki Ramadhani on 9 February 2026 for possession of 14 kg of methamphetamine in the same region. Bareskrim is continuing to pursue other involved parties to dismantle the network completely.
