JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - The Mobile Detective Unit (Satresmob) of Bareskrim Polri has arrested a man identified as F, a suspect in an alleged embezzlement case involving a position of trust with losses amounting to Rp1.2 billion.

The suspect was arrested in the Tanjung Duren area of West Jakarta on Tuesday (19 May 2026).

“The team successfully secured the suspect with the assistance of local community leaders,” said Bareskrim Polri’s Satresmob Chief, Commissioner Teuku Arsya Khadafi, in a statement on Tuesday (26 May 2026).

According to him, the case began when the suspect offered to exchange US dollars for the victim. The victim then transferred Rp1.269 billion to the suspect. However, the funds are alleged to have been embezzled.

“F had promised to return the money, but the promise was never fulfilled,” said Khadafi.

The case was pursued based on Police Report No. LP-B/255/VI/2025/SPKT/Polresta Barelang/Polda Kepri dated 11 June 2025.

Police are charging the suspect under Article 488 of the Indonesian Criminal Code (KUHP) for alleged embezzlement in a position of trust.

The suspect is currently in custody pending further legal proceedings.
