Barcelona Accelerates Process to Secure Marcus Rashford Permanently from Manchester United
Barcelona is reportedly taking concrete steps to secure Marcus Rashford on a permanent deal during the upcoming summer transfer window. The English international is currently on a successful loan spell at Camp Nou from Manchester United.
According to the latest reports on Wednesday (February 25, 2026), Barcelona’s Sporting Director, Deco, has held key meetings with the player’s agent to finalize the personal agreement. Rashford’s impressive performances under Hansi Flick have been a major factor in Barcelona’s ambition to keep him longer.
In the loan agreement signed last summer, Barcelona has an option to buy Rashford permanently for €30 million (approximately £26 million).
Although Barcelona initially tried to persuade Manchester United to lower the price, the Red Devils’ management, now led by the new structure under CEO Omar Berrada, has remained firm.
Manchester United has stated that they will not offer any discount on the clause. The Red Devils believe that the price of €30 million is already very reasonable considering Rashford’s improving performance and his rising market value in Europe.
One of the crucial points in this negotiation is Marcus Rashford’s willingness to accept a significant pay cut. At Manchester United, Rashford has a very high income, but to stay in Spain, he is reportedly willing to adjust his earnings to comply with the La Liga salary cap.
Reports from transfer experts indicate that an agreement in principle for a four-year contract (until 2030) has almost been reached. Rashford believes that Hansi Flick’s playing style is a perfect fit for his characteristics, which rely on speed and quick transitions.
The final decision now lies with Barcelona’s management to release the transfer funds before other clubs try to intervene. With Rashford having expressed his desire to stay, this permanent transfer is expected to be completed before the end of the current season.
