Palu - The Indonesian Quarantine Agency (Barantin) has introduced an Export Clinic to provide consultation and assistance to MSME entrepreneurs during the 48th anniversary of Palu City, aiming to expand regional product access to export markets.

“Together with the Ministry of MSMEs, the Palu City Government, and the Central Sulawesi Provincial Government, we are pushing for enhanced competitiveness through guidance and education to ensure better product quality,” said the Head of Barantin, Abdul Kadermadi, in Palu, Central Sulawesi, on Sunday.

He explained that Central Sulawesi possesses significant export commodity potential, including edible bird’s nests, fish, cocoa, and cloves, which can be developed to reach international markets.

According to him, one of the challenges faced by MSME entrepreneurs is maintaining product quality standards and the limited knowledge regarding international market requirements.

“Therefore, standardisation is necessary so that the standards of the purchasing countries align with ours,” he added.

Meanwhile, the Head of the Central Sulawesi Quarantine Office, Alfian, stated that the Export Clinic can be utilised by business actors to understand the necessary processes when bringing their products to the international market.

The assistance covers the fulfilment of quarantine requirements, commodity inspection and certification, as well as understanding the regulations of destination countries.

“The Export Clinic serves as a consultation and assistance space for business actors, particularly MSMEs, ranging from fulfilling quarantine requirements and commodity inspection to certification and understanding the provisions of destination countries,” he said.

He noted that such guidance is essential so that MSMEs are not only focused on producing marketable products but also understand quality standards, food safety, traceability, and various technical requirements imposed by destination countries.

“With closer assistance, MSMEs will not only be directed to produce products with high selling value but will also understand the importance of quality standards, food safety, traceability, and the technical requirements of destination countries,” he added.

He further stated that the presence of the Export Clinic is part of strengthening Barantin’s role in facilitating trade.

He mentioned that in addition to its supervisory and protective functions, the agency also assists business actors in meeting the requirements necessary for Indonesian commodities to be accepted in destination countries.
