Barantin: Indonesia's e-Phyto System Implementation Serves as Reference for Cambodia
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Indonesian Quarantine Agency (Barantin) states that Indonesia’s implementation of the electronic phytosanitary certification system (e-Phyto) serves as a reference for Cambodia in strengthening oversight of commodity trade. Acting Deputy for Plant Quarantine at Barantin, Drama Panca Putra, conveyed this information from representatives of the General Directorate for Agronomy (GDA) under Cambodia’s Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries (MAFF) during their visit to Jakarta. “This visit is an important moment to strengthen bilateral cooperation, particularly in the field of quarantine and enhancing surveillance systems for cross-border commodity flows,” said Drama in his statement in Jakarta on Wednesday. He explained that the visit, which took place on Tuesday (7/4), also served as a platform for exchanging knowledge and experiences in applying digital-based quarantine systems. Furthermore, Drama stated that strengthening the quarantine system not only functions as protection at border areas but also acts as an instrument to support the smooth flow of international trade and enhance the competitiveness of national commodities. Thus, Barantin continues to promote the implementation of modern and integrated quarantine systems, including through the e-Phyto system. Heng Chhun Hy, representative of GDA MAFF Cambodia, said that the implementation of the e-Phyto system provides benefits in increasing transparency, efficiency, and trust in international trade.
