Bar owner shot to death

MERAUKE, Irian Jaya (JP): A bar owner here was shot to death
on Monday by a drunk soldier, a military officer said on Tuesday.

The commander of the local military district, Lt. Col. Udin
Supidin, said Corp. second class RR shot Pudjiastuti, the owner
of Anggraeini Bar & Restaurant, with an FN 45 gun.

Quoting a witness, Udin said the soldier and the female victim
were never romantically involved. The witness, who is a friend of
the suspect, also said the two were not quarreling before the
shooting.

RR was just drunk and took out his pistol and shot the woman,
Udin quoted the witness as saying. "The witness asked him not to
play with the gun, but RR did not heed him," Udin said. (34/sur)
