Bappisus Head Reveals 1,700 SPPG Units Suspended, Reducing MBG Portions
The Head of the Special Development Control and Investigation Agency (Bappisus), Aris Marsudiyanto, has revealed that around 1,700 Nutrition Fulfilment Service Units (SPPG) have been temporarily suspended. This measure was taken after findings of portion reductions in the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) programme. “If I’m not mistaken, there are about 1,700 SPPG that have been suspended by BGN for improvements. This is a form of BGN’s seriousness in managing SPPG with quality, in line with the established standard specifications,” said Aris Marsudiyanto to reporters at the APPMBGI National Summit in East Jakarta on Saturday (25/4/2026). Aris stated that the temporary suspension is a demonstration of the National Nutrition Agency’s (BGN) seriousness in ensuring SPPG management adheres to standards. He reminded that there must be no reductions in portions or meal quality for MBG. “In principle, as I conveyed to all SPPG, they must maintain the food specifications already standardised by BGN. So, do not reduce the size, and the quality must also be upheld, including the quality of food, water, presentation, kitchen, and so on. So that what our children eat is hygienic, healthy, and nutritious,” said Aris. Aris explained that the portion reductions in MBG discovered by Bappisus included reductions in side dish sizes. He gave an example of chicken meat that should be cut into eight pieces but was instead cut into 20 pieces, making the size smaller. “Including the sizes, for example, meat—say chicken should be cut into eight, but this was cut into 12 or 16 or 20, so it becomes small. Catfish should be a certain gram size, but everything must be adjusted to the specifications so that the nutritional standards and meal quality for children, pregnant women, the elderly, and so on are met,” he said.
