Bappisus Affirms Hunt for Riza Chalid Remains a Priority

The Head of the Development Control and Special Investigation Agency (Bappisus), Aris Marsudiyanto, has stressed that the hunt for Muhammad Riza Chalid remains a top priority for law enforcement. Riza has now been placed on an international wanted list through a red notice mechanism and extradition process. “One of the quite significant matters currently is that we perhaps still have homework to do, to capture and hunt one of the major corruption suspects who has been issued a red notice and extradition request, Muhammad Riza Chalid. We are currently uncovering this,” Aris said after attending a Focus Group Discussion with the Junior Attorney General for Intelligence in Jakarta, Monday (10/8). Aris explained that the effort to bring Riza Chalid home is one of the major cases receiving serious government attention. In its implementation, Bappisus is building cross-institutional coordination with all law enforcement agencies and establishing international cooperation. This synergy is expected to accelerate the pursuit process in line with the established law enforcement targets. Aris is optimistic that the collaboration, which has reached the international level, will yield the results expected by the public. In addition to the Riza Chalid case, Bappisus is also currently handling a number of other cases involving various parties. The handling is carried out internally by the Attorney General’s Office as well as through joint task forces with other law enforcement agencies. Regarding the details of these cases, Aris mentioned that the government is still conducting in-depth and accurate identification. He assured that every case that has a strong and verified legal basis will be immediately announced to the public. “Once it is fixed, accurate, the identification is clear, and it falls within the legal domain, it will certainly be announced immediately by the law enforcement agencies,” he concluded. He also asked the public to be patient while waiting for the ongoing legal process until the information is truly verified.
