Bappidsus: Indonesia's Economic Fundamentals Remain Strong
Jakarta — The head of the Special Development Control and Investigation Agency (Bappidsus), Aries Marsudiyanto, has assured that Indonesia’s economic conditions remain strong despite global upheaval resulting from conflicts in the Middle East.
Aries stated that the government has calculated various potential impacts from international conflicts, including wars involving the United States, Israel, and Iran.
“In principle, Indonesia’s economy is strong, there is no need to worry. With the upheavals of wars between America, Israel, and Iran,” Aries said before attending a limited meeting with President Prabowo Subianto at the Presidential Palace Complex in Jakarta on Tuesday.
He added that the government is also ensuring the availability of basic necessities and national energy supplies remain secure. Food stocks, fuel oil (BBM), and energy supplies are said to be sufficient.
According to him, Indonesia’s national economic fundamentals remain in good condition, so the public need not worry about the impact of such global conflicts.
The government has taken various anticipatory measures through coordination with relevant ministries and agencies.
President Prabowo Subianto is said to have assembled government officials to discuss steps to address potential impacts from the global situation.
“Yesterday the President also gathered everyone. We are holding all-out meetings at all times for the nation and the state,” he explained.
Regarding the issue of rising subsidised fuel prices, Aries emphasised that the government has no plans to increase such prices. This has also been stated previously by the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, Bahlil Lahadalia.
The government, Aries continued, will continue to monitor developments in the global situation and calculate various scenarios to maintain national economic stability.
“So in principle, everything is secure—food, fuel, energy. Our economic fundamentals are strong, Indonesia is strong,” he concluded.
