Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Minister of National Development Planning/Head of the National Development Planning Agency (PPN/Bappenas), Rachmat Pambudy, is urging East Java Province (Jatim) to achieve economic growth above 6 percent.

“(We are encouraging) East Java to achieve growth above 6 percent, accompanied by improvements in development quality through poverty reduction, job creation, and inequality reduction,” he said while attending the East Java Provincial Development Planning Deliberation (Musrenbangprov).

In a written statement received in Jakarta on Friday, he mentioned that Bappenas, together with local governments, is preparing the Initial Draft of the Government Work Plan (RKP) 2027 within the framework of integrated national development.

The economic growth target for Jatim that Bappenas hopes for aims to accelerate inclusive and sustainable economic growth in the range of 6.3 to 7.5 percent as in the RKP 2027, in line with the National Medium-Term Development Plan (RPJMN) 2025–2029.

His side also emphasised the urgency of synergy between central and regional governments in ensuring the implementation of national priority programmes, including Free Nutritious Meals (MBG), People’s Schools, education digitalisation, and strengthening the economy through the Red and White Cooperative.

In Jatim, he continued, various strategic projects are also being promoted, including dam construction, drinking water supply systems, the Tuban oil refinery, biofuel development, toll roads, and special economic zones (KEK) in Gresik and Singasari.

According to him, the Surabaya metropolitan area or Gerbangkertosusila (Gresik–Bangkalan–Mojokerto–Surabaya–Sidoarjo–Lamongan) has bright prospects as a pillar of Jatim’s economy. These prospects are also supported by increasingly integrated infrastructure development.

In addition, the Head of Bappenas also emphasised strengthening data governance through Satu Data Indonesia (SDI) as an important foundation in supporting effective, integrated, and sustainable development planning and control.

SDI is also expected to maintain harmonisation of security between central, regional, and village levels, so that all village development processes can run more in harmony, effectively, and sustainably.

“The RKP 2027 must be a strong foundation in strengthening the regional economy. If the regional economy is strong, then the national economy will also be strong,” said the Minister of National Development Planning.
