Bappenas to Launch GIFT, Targeting US$ 2 Billion in Investment
The Ministry of National Development Planning (Bappenas) has reaffirmed its role in driving green growth in Indonesia. One of these commitments will be realised through the launch of the Green Indonesia Future Initiative (GIFT), scheduled for Thursday, 4 June 2026. This launch marks the transition from the Green Growth Program Phase III (GGP III) to GIFT. Moving forward, GIFT will focus on green investment, climate action, carbon assessment, sustainable landscapes, the blue and coastal economy, and the development of green industries to support Indonesia’s low-carbon economic transformation.
GIFT serves as a green transformation initiative prioritising the interests of both current and future generations. The initiative targets an investment goal of US$ 2 billion, with a focus on programme scalability and the integration of regional elements. Nizhar Marizi, Director of Environment at Bappenas, stated that Indonesia’s current development direction is driven by three environmental crises threatening the future of the planet and humanity: climate change, pollution and environmental degradation, and the loss of biodiversity.
