National Development Planning Minister and Head of Bappenas Rachmat Pambudy has stated that the agency is committed to preparing the post-2030 development strategy. This comes as the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) approach their 2030 deadline, while international discussions on the Beyond 2030 Agenda intensify.

“Beyond 2030 is not just a global agenda but one for us. This is not merely a global initiative but a strategic agenda for Indonesia to face future challenges such as climate crises, global economic stagnation, geopolitical conflicts, and technological disruptions,” he said at the Kick-Off Discussion on Indonesia’s Positioning on the Beyond 2030 Agenda towards the SDG Summit 2027, in an official statement from Jakarta on Saturday.

During the event, Minister Rachmat Pambudy reviewed Indonesia’s progress in achieving the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). He noted Indonesia’s long-standing experience in reducing extreme poverty, expanding access to basic education, improving maternal and child health, and strengthening environmental management.

“Indonesia is one of the countries that has successfully achieved most MDGs. Therefore, with SDG progress at around 62%, there is no reason to be surprised; rather, we should be confident in Indonesia’s capacity to meet these targets,” he said.

Minister Pambudy stressed three non-negotiable pillars of development: food security, adequate education, and healthcare guarantees. These aspects form the foundation for post-2030 sustainable development planning.

Bappenas head also underscored Indonesia’s role as a bridge-builder in global development discourse, expected to mediate between developed and developing nations through principles of universality, inclusivity, partnership, and Leave No One Behind (LNOB).

“Discussions on the Beyond 2030 Agenda must be meticulously prepared well in advance. Although 2030 is still years away, early preparation will yield better outcomes. We must be vigilant, as the saying goes: ‘prepare the umbrella before the rain’. To ensure Indonesia is better prepared for future development challenges,” he said.
