Bappenas: Central Kalimantan's D-1 Vocational Programme successfully aligns workforce competencies
Palangka Raya (ANTARA) - The National Development Planning Agency (Bappenas) said the D-1 Vocational Programme, an initiative of the Central Kalimantan Provincial Government (Kalteng), is deemed successful in aligning workforce competencies with industry needs within the region.
‘The D-1 Vocational Programme in agriculture, fisheries and animal husbandry is a strategic move that aligns with Central Kalimantan’s potential in natural resources and agro-industry,’ said Pungkas Bahjuri Ali, Deputy for Human Development and Culture at Bappenas, in Palangka Raya on Thursday.
He made the remarks at the launch of a strategic education sector programme by the provincial government, which included free uniforms, scholarships and other benefits.
Bahjuri noted that this vocational education is highly relevant to local potentials and can be effective in reducing field-level labour-mismatch. ‘It also raises emphasis on the real economy and strengthens downstream processing of the region’s premier commodities,’ he added.
According to him, this is a strategic policy of Governor Agustiar Sabran that aligns with President Prabowo Subianto’s Asta Cita.
‘This is the essence of education transformation. Vocational education does not merely produce graduates, but skilled workers,’ he explained.
One partner of the provincial government in implementing the D-1 Vocational Programme is Muhammadiyah University of Palangka Raya, with thousands of students.
In its teaching system, the D-1 Vocational Programme comprises 30 percent theory and 70 percent practical work.
Governor Agustiar Sabran said this is an important moment to strengthen synergy and collaboration to improve education quality that is equitable and just.
‘The education is both a foundation and investment, a main pillar to realise our vision and mission. Education will break the chain of poverty, ignorance and isolation,’ he said.
