Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Ministry of National Development Planning (PPN)/National Development Planning Agency (Bappenas) is strengthening the quality of planning and the performance of national priority implementation in the regions through the 2026 Regional Development Awards (PPD). This serves as an evaluation instrument for local governments while simultaneously encouraging synergy between central and regional development.

“National development is an aggregation of regional development. Therefore, when we plan national development here, we are actually planning regional development,” said the Minister of PPN/Head of Bappenas, Rachmat Pambudy, in Jakarta on Wednesday.

According to him, the 2026 PPD awards represent appreciation for achievements in planning quality, development performance, and innovation, with this year’s theme being “Planning and Performance of National Priority Implementation in the Regions.”

“We want, when planning regional development, it is not only at the provincial, regency, city, and sub-district levels, but ideally extending down to the village level,” Minister Pambudy stated during the Regional Development Awards and Regional Development Knowledge Sharing 2026 event at the Bappenas Building.

At the regency level, the top-performing regions were Kendal (first), Deli Serdang (second), South Lampung (third), Sumedang (fourth), and Sleman (fifth).

At the city level, the top-performing regions were Surabaya (first), Manado (second), Pekalongan (third), Tangerang (fourth), and Balikpapan (fifth).

The awards were presented directly by the Minister of PPN/Head of Bappenas, Rachmat Pambudy, and the Deputy Minister of Home Affairs, Ribka Haluk.
