Bappenas and Bakom Strengthen Synergy to Build Development Communication
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Ministry of National Development Planning/Bappenas and the Government Communication Agency of the Republic of Indonesia (Bakom RI) are strengthening synergy to build development communication that is adaptive, data-driven, and capable of responding to the changing media landscape and the public’s information needs.
Minister of National Development Planning/Head of Bappenas Rachmat Pambudy stated that the changing media landscape requires the government to continuously adapt. However, the main objective of government communication remains ensuring that public aspirations are met.
“The key challenge is that change occurs because technology changes, media changes, and public expectations also change. But what remains constant is that the public always wants their aspirations to be fulfilled. And the government’s duty is to fulfil those aspirations,” he said during an audience with Head of Bakom RI Muhammad Qodari in Jakarta, Thursday.
In his presentation, Head of Bakom RI M Qodari explained that his agency is tasked with orchestrating the communication and information of the government’s strategic policies and programmes.
Responding to this, Deputy Minister of National Development Planning/Deputy Head of Bappenas Febrian Alphyanto Ruddyard emphasised that the challenge of government communication today is no longer just about conveying information, but also about building public trust.
Therefore, he continued, ministries and agencies need to be more active in conveying various policies clearly, based on data, and without being defensive.
“Good communication is communication that can build trust. Ministries and agencies need to be more active in conveying the technical aspects of development clearly and providing adequate context to the public,” said Deputy Minister Febrian.
This synergy is expected to realise more effective development communication in building public trust, as well as supporting the achievement of the national development agenda.
