Bapindo's reports ready

JAKARTA (JP): Bad-debt-ridden Bank Pembangunan Indonesia (Bapindo) is ready to publish its financial reports, the bank's commissioner Dahlan Sutalaksana said yesterday.

Dahlan told journalists at his office that the audit of Bapindo's financial reports had taken an unusually long time because of the bank's efforts to recover its loans from the bankrupt Golden Key Group.

"The audit has been completed, and the results are ready to be published," Dahlan said.

Bapindo has not published any financial reports since September 1994 when the bank was devastated by a US$430 million credit scam involving Golden Key's chairman Eddy Tansil. Tansil has since escaped from a prison in Jakarta and is still at large. (rid)
