Bapindo trial

According to the Attorney General Singgih, the dossiers on the
Bapindo credit fraud will be submitted to the court by the end of
this month. It is to be noted that the government has the
political will to take concrete steps toward a clean and
respectable administration.

The fact that the Bapindo case is going to trial reflects that
the House of Representatives is carrying out its watchdog role
effectively, a fact that is refreshing, indeed.

However, there are still a number of other corruption cases
and instances of leakage of state funds that have to be pushed to
the fore. We all hope that the government can rid itself of
corruptors and manipulators so that its mechanism of
administration can work properly.

However, whether the government really has the political will
to purge itself completely remains to be seen.

In order to resume its normal operation, Bapindo must work
hard to make big profit. This is not easy for Bapindo.

Will Bapindo collapse? Not likely. With sure government's
backing, Bapindo will be able play the tune as nicely as ever.
