Bapanas: Soybean Stock of 322,000 Tonnes Sufficient Until End of April 2026

JAKARTA - The National Food Agency (Bapanas) states that the national soybean stock is projected to suffice for domestic needs until the end of April 2026. The agency’s Chief Secretary, Sarwo Edhy, said the soybean stock is supplied from domestic production and imports. “Regarding stock availability, currently until the end of April, our soybean stock is still 322,000 tonnes,” Sarwo said in his official statement on Friday (17/4/2026). Of the current 322,500 tonnes of soybean stock, monthly consumption is said to be in the range of 220,000 to 230,000 tonnes. This calculation refers to the Soybean Food Balance Projection for 2025, which is updated every month. Sarwo reminded soybean importers to comply with the upper limit on selling prices as regulated by the government. Bapanas has set the Reference Selling Price (HAP) for soybeans at the importer level at Rp11,500 per kilogram. Sarwo stated that the government will investigate soybean sales that violate the HAP limit. “For example, if the soybean price exceeds Rp12,000, we will trace it upstream; if any importer is found selling above Rp11,500, that importer will automatically be stopped from the next import and their permit will be revoked,” he emphasised. Based on Bapanas monitoring, the average price of imported soybeans at the tofu and tempeh artisan level over the past week was Rp11,266 to Rp11,320 per kilogram. Furthermore, Sarwo mentioned that the government continues to encourage domestic soybean production. The Ministry of Agriculture is implementing various programmes to develop this commodity. “Of course, the Minister of Agriculture has a soybean development programme this year. Hopefully, domestic soybean production will gradually increase, which will automatically reduce imports,” he said.
