Jakarta (ANTARA) - The National Food Agency (Bapanas) is ensuring that the distribution of the corn feed supply and price stabilisation programme (SPHP) is carried out precisely to assist livestock farmers in reducing production costs and maintaining the sustainability of their livestock businesses.

“Do not deviate anywhere because this concerns the accountability of SPHP corn distribution,” said Deputy for Food Availability and Stabilisation of Bapanas, I Gusti Ketut Astawa, during the SPHP corn distribution in Sumedang, West Java, as stated in Jakarta on Wednesday.

Ketut stated that the distribution of SPHP corn feed must align with the government-determined recipient data.

This is done so that the assistance is truly felt by the farmers who need it.

He also conveyed a message from the Head of Bapanas, who is also the Minister of Agriculture, Andi Amran Sulaiman, directed to associations and livestock farmer cooperatives receiving the SPHP corn feed programme, urging them to ensure the distribution remains on target.

“This SPHP corn will continue to roll out. This means the SPHP acts as a trigger, in line with the directives from the President (Prabowo Subianto), followed up by the Minister of Agriculture and Head of Bapanas,” he said.

The SPHP corn feed programme for 2026 was previously launched by the government on Saturday (9/5/2026).

Bapanas recorded a distribution realisation of 786.1 tonnes as of 12 May 2026.

The list of SPHP corn recipients for 2026 has been determined through the Minister of Agriculture’s Decree Number 3540/KPTS/HK.150/F/03/2026 dated 31 March 2026.

Verification of SPHP corn programme recipient data was carried out jointly with the Directorate General of Livestock and Animal Health of the Ministry of Agriculture.

The price of feed corn set by Bapanas includes Rp5,000 per kilogram (kg) for collection at Bulog warehouses and a maximum of Rp5,500 per kg at the farmer level.

Distribution of SPHP corn feed is carried out through cooperatives or associations to registered members under the Minister of Agriculture’s Decree.

The current national distribution target is 213,100 tonnes. The government’s corn reserve stock (CJP) as of 13 May stands at 234,000 tonnes.

Bapanas ensures that Bulog continues to absorb domestic corn production, with achievements reaching 187,600 tonnes from the beginning of 2026 to 11 May.

The government is rolling out the SPHP corn feed programme to address fluctuations in corn prices at the farmer level, which have exceeded the reference selling price (HAP) of Rp5,800 per kg.

According to Ketut, when farmers are affected by fluctuations in feed corn prices, it can also impact egg prices.

The budget for the SPHP corn feed programme in 2026 has been prepared at Rp678 billion.

“So once again, hopefully this will be beneficial in controlling prices. At the same time, the government certainly hopes that egg prices can remain relatively stable. That is, prices should not be too high, but farmers also get a reasonable profit,” said Ketut.

Bapanas also noted that the average national corn price at the farmer level still exceeds the HAP at around Rp6,848 per kg, or 18.07% above the HAP.

Meanwhile, compared to a month earlier, it has risen slightly by 1.09% from Rp6,774 per kg at that time.

Head of Bapanas Andi Amran Sulaiman has assured that Indonesia has achieved self-sufficiency in feed corn.

There has been no import of feed corn since 2025, after Indonesia was previously forced to import corn in previous years.

To support sustainable self-sufficiency, the Prabowo Subianto administration’s support for corn farmers’ interests is demonstrated through the issuance of Presidential Instruction (Inpres) Number 3 of 2026.

Inpres 3/2026 contains the President’s directive to carry out domestic corn procurement throughout 2026.

The procurement target is 1 million tonnes at the government purchase price (HPP) of Rp5,500 per kilogram (kg).

The criteria are corn that has reached harvest age with a moisture content of between 18 and 20 percent.
