Jakarta (ANTARA) - The National Food Agency (Bapanas) has assured that it will maintain the availability of soybean supplies for tofu and tempeh producers to ensure business continuity and the stability and affordability of products for the public.

“The national availability of soybeans is still sufficient to meet national needs, especially for the production requirements of tofu and tempeh producers,” said the Chief Secretary of Bapanas, Sarwo Edhy, in a statement in Jakarta on Saturday.

He stated that soybean supplies, both from imports and domestic production, are projected to remain at safe levels until the end of April 2026.

He explained that the sufficiency of soybean availability is continuously monitored and maintained by the government. Moreover, more than 90 per cent of national soybean needs come from tofu and tempeh producers.

“Regarding stock availability, as of the end of April, our soybean stock is still at 322,000 tonnes. This means it is still sufficient,” he said.

“The price of soybeans for producers remains normal,” he added.

The national soybean availability, projected at 322,500 tonnes until the end of April, is still adequate to support monthly soybean needs, which range between 220,000 and 230,000 tonnes.

“This calculation is based on the Soybean Food Balance Projection for 2026, which is updated with data every month,” he explained.
