Jakarta - The National Food Agency (Bapanas) has confirmed that the distribution of 242,000 tonnes of livestock feed maize through the supply and price stabilisation programme (SPHP) can be carried out in March 2026, to maintain the stability of egg and chicken meat prices in the market.

“Hopefully in March, if the data is complete, we will roll out the SPHP feed maize,” said I Gusti Ketut Astawa, Deputy for Food Availability and Stabilisation at Bapanas, when reached in Jakarta on Saturday.

He stated that the SPHP livestock feed maize programme targeting poultry farmers plays an important role in stabilising the prices of chicken eggs and broiler meat.

The government’s action of distributing feed maize stocks at below-market prices to poultry farmers offers relief in addressing fluctuations in maize prices at the farmer level.

“The purpose of the SPHP maize has been discussed. We will then record the recipients. We are currently synchronising. We are collecting the data,” said Ketut.

The data collection in question comprises detailed information of poultry farmers who will be designated as recipients of the 2026 SPHP livestock feed maize programme.

As with the implementation in previous years, recipients of the SPHP livestock feed maize programme are determined through joint verification between Bapanas and the Directorate General of Livestock and Animal Health and the Directorate General of Food Crops at the Ministry of Agriculture.
