Banyuwangi Residents Begin Objection Process in Pilot Digital Social Assistance Scheme
The digital social assistance digitisation programme being piloted in Banyuwangi has entered the objection phase following the announcement of selection results. Notably, residents classified as “Ineligible” for social assistance benefits are being given the opportunity to lodge formal objections.
Banyuwangi residents who registered for social assistance have received their selection results since 2 March 2026. The announcement contained determinations of either “Eligible” or “Ineligible” as social assistance recipients, along with the reasons.
“This programme indeed provides an opportunity for residents classified as ‘Ineligible’ to lodge objections if they feel the selection results do not match actual conditions in the field,” said Banyuwangi Regent Ipuk Fiestiandani in a written statement on Monday, 9 March 2026.
Head of the Committee for Accelerating Government Digital Transformation (KPTPD) Rahmat Danu Andika added that the social assistance announcements can be viewed on the perlinsos portal at https://perlinsos.kemensos.go.id/ via Digital Population Identity (IKD).
The announcements can also be viewed directly at village/sub-district offices or perlinsos agents who conducted the initial registration with residents.
“After learning the announcement results, residents who are dissatisfied with the outcome because they believe it does not match actual field conditions can utilise the objection facility. This is a form of the fairness the state wishes to provide,” said Andika.
To view results or lodge objections, residents are asked to visit the agents who initially registered them or go directly to their village office.
“Simply bring your family card, identity card, and PLN account number; the agent or village office will be ready to assist. Residents’ objections will be verified again across ministries and agencies to re-match them with their objection submissions,” Andika said.
The cross-ministry and inter-agency KPTPD team has also been deployed directly to Banyuwangi to monitor the objection phase implementation in several villages, including at Benelan Lor Village.
At the village office, hundreds of residents eagerly reviewed the announcement results to see whether they were classified as “Eligible” or “Ineligible” for assistance, while simultaneously lodging objections facilitated by the village.
One resident lodging an objection was Sholatin (55). After verification by officials, Sholatin was classified as “Ineligible” for assistance by the system.
The reason was that Sholatin was detected as owning two property certificates. However, he currently only owns one property certificate—the one for his residence—because the other property has been sold.
“Now I only have one property certificate, for the house I share with my husband. My husband’s work is also irregular,” said Sholatin.
“I immediately lodged an objection with help from the village officer,” he added.
The objection process was quite brief, taking around 15 minutes. Officials conducted interviews based on the available form. Residents only needed to bring the required documents.
Village Head of Benelan Lor Khoirul Anam said the village had facilitated residents to check their social assistance selection data and lodge objections at the village hall starting 6 March 2026.
“We took the initiative to gather all registered residents and check them one by one. Village officers voluntarily assisted,” said Khoirul.
“Besides the village office, residents can also contact their neighbourhood and hamlet leaders to conduct checks and lodge objections,” he added.
Another resident from Olehsari Village, Glagah District, Surotul Mufidah said she was relieved to be classified as “Eligible to Receive Social Assistance”. Surotul said she had never received social assistance before but did not know the reason why.
“But with this digital social assistance scheme, I had the opportunity to receive assistance because I was classified as ‘Eligible’,” she concluded.
