Banyuwangi (ANTARA) - The Banyuwangi Regency Government, East Java, has presented the progress of the Sekolah Rakyat building construction and the Social Protection Digitalisation Programme to the Ministry of Social Affairs. Banyuwangi Regent Ipuk Fiestiandani said she met with Social Affairs Minister Saifullah Yusuf in Jakarta on Thursday (19/6) and reported on the development of Sekolah Rakyat and the social protection programme being rolled out in Banyuwangi. “Currently, the Ministry of Public Works is constructing the Integrated Sekolah Rakyat building in Blambangan Village, Muncar District, and the progress has reached more than 75 percent,” Regent Ipuk said in a statement in Banyuwangi on Friday. According to her, the Sekolah Rakyat has temporarily been operating at two locations: the Training Centre owned by the Banyuwangi Regency Government in Licin District and the Vocational and Productivity Training Centre complex in Muncar District. “The building covers primary, junior high, and senior high school levels with a capacity of around 1,000 students and is equipped with various learning support facilities,” she said. Regent Ipuk detailed that the Sekolah Rakyat facilities being built include two-storey school buildings for primary, junior high, and senior high levels, male and female dormitories for each level, and teacher flats. There is also a multipurpose hall, a mosque, a worship building, a kitchen, complete with canteens for primary, junior high, and senior high students. Also available are a parade ground, a football field, a basketball court, a jogging track, a generator house, a waste disposal site, a greenhouse, a pump house, a maintenance warehouse, a guard post, a kitchen waste installation, car parking, motorcycle parking, and a gate. To the Social Affairs Minister, Regent Ipuk also proposed that Sekolah Rakyat students be given BMX extracurricular activities because the new Sekolah Rakyat is adjacent to an international-standard BMX circuit. “The children can later be given BMX extracurriculars because it is close to the Muncar Circuit, so they can produce talented young athletes,” she said.
