Banyuwangi Regent says presidential priority programmes align with local development agenda
Banyuwangi Regent Ipuk Fiestiandani has said the eight priority programmes of President Prabowo Subianto are aligned with the development programmes that the Banyuwangi Regency Government in East Java has been running. In his State Address on the 2027 Draft State Budget at the MPR Building on Friday (14/8), President Prabowo Subianto outlined eight development priorities for 2027, covering food sovereignty, energy and water self-sufficiency, education, health, downstreaming and industrialisation, infrastructure, housing and disaster resilience, strengthening the people’s economy and village development, and poverty reduction.
“The eight programmes are aligned with the regional development agenda that Banyuwangi has been implementing. With this alignment between national policy and regional programmes, the benefits of development will be felt even more by the public,” Regent Ipuk said in Banyuwangi on Saturday.
She said that on the food sovereignty priority, Banyuwangi has taken a number of strategic steps, including enforcing strict regulations prohibiting the conversion of productive rice fields into permanent buildings to safeguard agricultural productivity and support the national food self-sufficiency target.
In the education sector, she said Banyuwangi has been running various programmes focused on reducing school dropouts, expanding access to higher education, and strengthening inclusivity. These are supported by a number of flagship initiatives, such as the Banyuwangi Cerdas Scholarship for free university education for underprivileged residents, the Progressive Scholarship (B-Pro) which provides scholarships up to specialist doctor level, the Regional Movement to Lift Out-of-School Youth (Garda Ampuh), the 12-Year Compulsory Education Village Pilot (Rindu Bulan), the Agage Pinter inclusion programme for children with special needs, and the Peer Foster Student (SAS) programme that encourages care among students.
In the health sector, she said Banyuwangi is focusing on reducing stunting, village-based health services, and strengthening health facilities in remote areas. “We are also scheduling specialist doctors at community health centres so that residents receive quality and easily accessible services. All of this is to provide the best health services, as President Prabowo hoped in his speech by making community health centres the spearhead of health services for the Indonesian people,” Regent Ipuk said.
Ipuk added that Banyuwangi is also focusing on poverty reduction programmes, with various efforts and collaboration among regional stakeholders. “Banyuwangi has succeeded in reducing the regional poverty rate to its lowest point in history, leaving a poverty rate of 6.13 percent in 2025,” Regent Ipuk said.
