Banyuwangi (ANTARA) — The Banyuwangi Regency Government in East Java is distributing business capital assistance to stall owners to help develop their enterprises through the Warung Naik Kelas (Wenak) programme, which has been running since 2021.

Banyuwangi Regent Ipuk Fiestiandani revealed that since the Wenak programme was launched in 2021 through to 2025, it has targeted approximately 1,559 community stalls, with assistance provided to micro and small business operators to help their enterprises grow.

“That is why we are pushing this through the Wenak programme. Hopefully, with this business equipment assistance, their operations will run more smoothly and continue to develop,” said Ipuk whilst distributing the aid in Wongsorejo District, Banyuwangi Regency, on Monday.

She explained that the Wenak programme was created so that small businesses could move up a class and become stronger, as many community stalls actually have the potential to grow.

“The Wenak programme is specifically intended for micro-enterprises from disadvantaged families, and recipient data is proposed by villages or sub-districts, then verified by the Cooperatives, Micro Enterprises, and Trade Agency,” she said.

Meanwhile, Head of the Banyuwangi Regency Cooperatives, Micro Enterprises, and Trade Agency, Nanin Oktaviantie, added that the recipients of the Wenak programme assistance are different individuals each year.

“The Wenak programme has also received support from many parties, with a number of companies channelling their CSR contributions towards this programme,” said Nanin.
