A pickup truck driver from Banyuwangi, East Java, Mujiono (50), was caught red-handed dumping waste in the West Bali National Park (TNBB), Gilimanuk Ward, Melaya Subdistrict, Jembrana. Mujiono and his assistant, Trio Saputra (20), were arrested by a joint team during a clean-up operation on Tuesday (28/4/2026).

The two residents of Banyuwangi were initially transporting papaya fruits along the national highway in the TNBB area. Mujiono dumped the waste right when the joint team from TNBB, the Infantry Battalion (Yonif) TP 928/Brata Sena Yudha (BYS), and the Waste Task Force (Satgas) of Gilimanuk Ward were conducting a clean-up along the national road.

“When the joint personnel were carrying out the waste clean-up around 09:00 WITA, they caught the pickup truck driver and his assistant dumping waste in the area,” said the Head of Gilimanuk Ward, Ida Bagus Tony Wirahadikuauma, when confirmed by detikBali.

The officers who witnessed the incident immediately stopped the perpetrators’ vehicle and escorted them to the TNBB office. Upon arrival at the TNBB office, the two men received stern counselling from the joint team.

“As a deterrent effect, the officers imposed social sanctions in the form of carrying out a clean-up action in the area and making a statement letter to not repeat the act again,” said Tony.

Tony also reminded road users, especially logistics transport drivers passing through the TNBB protected forest area, not to use the area as a waste dumping site.

“The TNBB area is a conservation zone that must be preserved. Officers will not hesitate to take action against anyone caught polluting the area, either through social sanctions or applicable laws and regulations,” explained Tony.
