Banyuwangi Deputy Regent Urges Investors to Strengthen Contributions to Regional Development

SUARA INDONESIA, BANYUWANGI - The Deputy Regent of Banyuwangi, Mujiono, has urged investors in Banyuwangi to actively contribute to regional development through social programmes and community empowerment. One example is the initiative undertaken by PT Bumi Suksesindo (PT BSI), which serves as a model for other investors operating in Banyuwangi. This assessment was made following the company’s consistent implementation of Community Development and Empowerment (PPM) programmes across various sectors. According to Mujiono, the company’s contributions extend beyond the economic sector to address basic community needs such as infrastructure and healthcare services. “One of them is the realisation of road infrastructure. Then in the health sector, ambulances and community health centres are already operational,” he said on Wednesday (13/5/2026). He explained that the various programmes run by PT BSI are helping to accelerate development in the areas surrounding the investment sites, including community empowerment through support for farmers, livestock breeders, and local small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). In addition, the mining company operating in the Pesanggaran area is also recognised for contributing to human resource development through the education sector and plans to build healthcare facilities. “This includes actively participating in advancing the education sector. Also regarding plans to build a hospital,” he clarified. Mujiono hopes that PT BSI’s steps in implementing corporate social programmes can be emulated by other investors in Banyuwangi. According to him, the presence of investments should have a direct impact on community welfare and regional development. It is known that PT BSI is a company operating in the mining sector and implementing PPM programmes in several fields, from education and health to strengthening community economy, socio-cultural aspects, the environment, and infrastructure development. The company operates in Pesanggaran Subdistrict, Banyuwangi, East Java, as the holder of the Gold and Associated Minerals Production Operation Mining Business Licence (IUP OP) Number 188/547/KEP/429.011/2012. The Pesanggaran Subdistrict area covers Kandangan Village, Sarongan, Sumberagung, Sumbermulyo, and Pesanggaran villages.
