A member of the Banyuwangi Civil Enforcement Agency (Satpol PP) in East Java, identified as AF (32), was assaulted by a group of intoxicated youths who were holding an illegal drinking party near the Pendopo Sabha Swagata Blambangan municipal building. The youths became hostile after being admonished by the enforcement officer.

According to reports, the incident occurred in the early hours of Sunday, 15 March. The attack began when AF was conducting a routine inspection of the area surrounding the municipal building and discovered a group of young people gathered on the pavement in front of Pertiwi Kindergarten, directly adjacent to the building’s left side. The officer found them actively consuming illicit alcohol.

“The officer found a group of young people actively drinking illicit alcohol on the pavement in front of Pertiwi Kindergarten,” said Yoppy Bayu Irawan, Chief of the Banyuwangi Civil Enforcement Agency.

Upon observing this, AF and his colleague HR (35), who were on night duty, issued a warning to the youths. When they were ignored, the officers requested them to move away to avoid disrupting public order.

Officer AF did not anticipate that his polite admonition would result in a violent assault. The group had been consuming homemade distilled spirits, which was evidenced by empty alcohol bottles discarded inside the school’s fence.

Refusing to comply, approximately 10 youths began attacking the officer. One youth kicked AF in the head, whilst another threw a rubbish bin in his direction. As a result of the assault, the officer sustained multiple bruises across various parts of his body.
