Banyumas Slaughterhouse Capacity Boosted Ahead of Idul Adha
The capacity of Banyumas’ slaughterhouse (RPH) has been increased from 30 to 50 cattle per day to ensure health, hygiene, food safety, and halal compliance for sacrificial meat. Banyumas Agriculture Department Head Arif Sukmo Buwono stated preparations include enhanced RPH capacity at Bantarwuni to handle increased demand during Idul Adha, with the facility also serving regular cattle slaughter of five to 10 heads daily. He urged the public to use government RPH services for better facilities and professional supervision, noting that halal-certified butchers (Juleha) and health standards are enforced. The department has coordinated with Juleha, conducted training, and deployed veterinary officers to check livestock health, prevent diseases like foot-and-mouth, and ensure animals are fit for consumption. Additionally, a 1.2-ton presidential donation of local cattle from Cilongok is under veterinary monitoring before slaughter. Price controls are in place to cap meat prices at Rp130,000 per kg, while complaints about waste odours from RPH facilities remain a concern. The potential of RPH services is significant during religious holidays such as Idul Fitri and Idul Adha.
