Banyumas Residents Flock to Free Healthcare Service Under Speling Programme
The Mobile Specialist Doctor (Speling) programme held by the Central Java Provincial Government at the NU Medika Cilongok Clinic in Banyumas Regency on Saturday (4/7) was enthusiastically welcomed by residents. Since morning, hundreds of people crowded the location to obtain free health check-up services from specialist doctors.
Orderly queues of residents were visible at various service points. They came to take advantage of the various health examination facilities provided, ranging from general check-ups to supporting services such as blood sugar and cholesterol tests.
The implementation of the programme was directly reviewed by the Central Java Vice Governor, Taj Yasin Maimoen. During his visit, he greeted residents who were undergoing examinations while inspecting a number of services at the NU Medika Cilongok Clinic, such as the general polyclinic, dental polyclinic, outpatient services, and simple laboratory examinations.
This Speling programme involved specialist doctors and health workers from Banyumas Regency, including a medical team from the Prof. Margono Soekarjo Regional General Hospital in Banyumas. The collaboration is aimed at providing specialist health services that are more easily accessible to the public.
One resident, Naimatul, admitted she deliberately came to have her health condition checked through a lung X-ray service. She considered the programme very helpful for the community because it provides access to medical examinations without having to spend a large amount of money.
“It is very helpful, because I have the flu so I wanted a lung X-ray,” she said while waiting in the queue.
Taj Yasin stated that the Speling Programme is a form of the Central Java Provincial Government’s commitment to bringing specialist health services closer to the community down to the sub-district level, so that residents do not need to travel long distances to get medical examinations.
In addition to reviewing the implementation of Speling, Taj Yasin also observed the development of the facilities and services at the NU Medika Cilongok Clinic. He expressed hope that the clinic would continue to improve the quality of its services so as to be able to meet the community’s growing health needs.
The Speling Programme is one of the Central Java Provincial Government’s efforts to expand access to health services through collaboration with regional hospitals, health workers, and health service facilities in various areas.
Based on data from the Central Java Health Office, as of 24 June 2026, the Speling Programme had been implemented 1,320 times in 1,310 villages/urban wards, with a total of 109,304 beneficiaries. This number is divided into 84,325 people in 2025 and 24,979 people in 2026.
