Banyumas Regent: Retirement Marks the Beginning of New Service for Civil Servants
Purwokerto (ANTARA) — Banyumas Regent Sadewo Tri Lastiono has described retirement as the beginning of a new chapter of service for civil servants (ASN) after completing decades of official duty.
"The receipt of this retirement decree essentially signifies that you have successfully completed decades of service to the nation. Now is the time to return to the community with service in other forms," he said whilst handing over retirement decrees to 176 civil servants at Pendopo Si Panji, Purwokerto, Banyumas Regency, Central Java, on Wednesday.
In connection with the occasion, he expressed gratitude for the dedication, devotion, and loyalty of the civil servants throughout their tenure in Banyumas Regency's government administration.
He assessed that the contributions of the civil servants had helped to establish a professional, transparent, participatory, and innovative bureaucracy.
According to the regent, retirement often brings about changes, from the loss of work routines and reduced income to no longer holding the authority of an official position.
However, he said, retirement can also become a new phase for expanding activities with family and within the wider social community.
"Therefore, retirement should not make us listless, disheartened, or suffer from post-power syndrome, because all civil servants will experience the same thing when their time comes," he said.
Despite having received their retirement decrees, the regent reminded the civil servants that they must continue to report to work and carry out their official duties at their respective units until their formal retirement date commences.
Meanwhile, the Head of the Banyumas Regency Civil Service and Human Resources Development Agency (BKPSDM), Eko Prijanto, stated that the 176 civil servants would enter retirement effective from 1 April, 1 May, and 1 June 2026.
Of the total recipients of retirement decrees, 66 individuals have an effective date of 1 April, 55 individuals on 1 May, and a further 55 on 1 June 2026.
"All of them have been submitted to the National Civil Service Agency and have received technical approval," he said.
