Banyumas Regent ensures Trans Banyumas Bus continues operating

Banyumas Regent Sadewo Tri Lastiono has confirmed that the Buy The Service (BTS) Trans Banyumas bus service will continue operating even though supporting funds from the central government through the State Budget (APBN) will no longer be disbursed this year.

“For this independence anniversary, I assure you that Trans Banyumas will not stop in Banyumas. Even though the APBN funds are not forthcoming, I have instructed the Regional Secretary and the Regional Finance and Asset Agency to source alternative funding,” he said in Purwokerto, Banyumas Regency, Central Java, on Monday.

He said the continuity of the Trans Banyumas service is a priority because it directly relates to public services that have been running to date.

“There is no need to worry, I assure you that Trans Banyumas will continue to operate,” he said after serving as Inspector of Ceremony for the 81st Anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Indonesia.

“Around Rp13 billion is needed, almost Rp14 billion, and we have already prepared it,” he stressed.

According to him, the decision to use Regional Budget (APBD) funds was made after the Banyumas Regency Government had previously attempted to lobby the Ministry of Transportation so that central government budget support would remain available.

However, he said, the financial condition of the government, both at regional and central level, is currently constrained, which became one of the considerations in the continuity of the Trans Banyumas bus service.
