Banyumas Regency temporarily halts Trans Banyumas operations

The Banyumas Regency Government in Central Java has temporarily halted operations of the Trans Banyumas bus service starting Sunday, 30 August 2026, as management of the service shifts from the state budget (APBN) to the regional budget (APBD).

Head of the Banyumas Regency Transportation Agency, Omar Udaya, said in Purwokerto on Saturday that the regency government has allocated operational funding for Trans Banyumas through the end of December 2026.

“In connection with the hand-over of management from the APBN to the Banyumas Regency APBD, the Banyumas Regency Government has allocated operational funding for Trans Banyumas until the end of December 2026,” he said.

He said the management transition requires a comprehensive evaluation of Trans Banyumas operations. Accordingly, the Trans Banyumas bus will not operate from Sunday, 30 August 2026, until the evaluation is completed.

“The Banyumas Regency Government understands that this mass transit service has become one of the public’s transport options to support daily mobility,” he said.

Therefore, he said, the evaluation process will be expedited as part of efforts to reorganise and improve services.

“This is part of service reorganisation and improvement, not a form of neglect of public needs,” he said.

In relation to this, he said the Banyumas Regency Government apologises to service users for the situation.

During the evaluation period, he said, the public is advised to adjust their travel needs by using other available modes of transport.

According to him, the Banyumas Regency Government remains committed to providing public transport services that are affordable, comfortable, safe, orderly and reliable.

“Information regarding the planned resumption of Trans Banyumas operations will be conveyed through official channels of the regional government and relevant agencies,” he said.

According to him, the information will also include the subsequent service mechanism once the evaluation and operational reorganisation are completed.

“The Banyumas Regency Government hopes the public can understand this evaluation process as part of efforts to improve the quality of public transport services in the region,” Omar said.
