Banyumas Regency Strengthens Preparedness for Potential Disasters
Banyumas (ANTARA) – The Banyumas Regency Government in Central Java is strengthening preparedness for potential disasters through its 2026 Disaster Preparedness Troops and Equipment Assembly, involving around 700 personnel from various sectors.
The assembly, held on Saturday at the upper grounds of the Serayu Movable Weir in Tambaknegara village, Rawalo sub-district, Banyumas, was attended by members of the Indonesian Military (TNI), National Police (Polri), Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), National Search and Rescue Agency (Basarnas), Civil Service Police Unit (Satpol PP), Transportation Agency, Indonesian Red Cross (PMI), volunteers, community organisations and other relevant agencies.
In his address, Banyumas Regent Sadewo Tri Lastiono stressed that disaster management must be carried out comprehensively, from the pre-disaster stage through emergency response and recovery.
“Personnel, equipment, logistics, health services, evacuation routes, and communication and command systems must therefore be confirmed as fully operational to support a rapid and co-ordinated disaster response,” he said.
He also emphasised the importance of solidarity among the TNI, Polri, local government, volunteers and the public in confronting various disaster threats.
He said cross-sector collaboration using the pentahelix approach—which brings together government, communities, businesses, academics and the media—was an important way to strengthen disaster mitigation and protect public safety.
The assembly continued with an inspection of personnel and disaster-response equipment to ensure that staff and supporting facilities were ready for emergencies.
The event also featured a disaster-response simulation to improve co-ordination and help officers carry out their duties in line with their respective roles.
Clean-water assistance was also dispatched for Banyumas residents affected by drought.
The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) forecasts that Banyumas Regency will enter a transition from the dry season to the rainy season in the second ten-day period of October 2026.
