Banyumas Regency prepares tourist destinations to welcome school holidays
The Banyumas Regency Government, Central Java, is preparing various flagship tourist destinations to welcome the 2026 school holiday period, with the hope of increasing tourist visits and driving the regional economy.
The Acting Head of the Banyumas Regency Department of Youth, Sports, Culture, and Tourism (Dinporabudpar), Junaidi, stated in Purwokerto on Tuesday that several tourist objects owned by the Regency Government—both managed by Dinporabudpar and Regional Public Service Agencies (BLUD)—are undergoing improvements to provide the best experience for tourists during the holiday season.
“We welcome the school holidays positively. We must certainly improve various tourist attractions in Banyumas Regency, one of which is Taman Apung Mas Kemambang, which now features the Lumiland decorative lighting attraction and has received a very positive response from the public,” he said.
According to Junaidi, Taman Apung Mas Kemambang, managed by the BLUD Pariwisata Teratai Mas, is being specially prepared for the school holidays. The destination has been equipped with new attractions in the form of decorative light installations, a result of collaboration with third parties, which were launched prior to Eid al-Adha 1447 Hijriah.
In addition to Balai Kemambang, other tourist sites such as Lokawisata Baturraden and Menara Teratai are also ready to welcome tourists, particularly students and families utilising the school break.
“We are optimistic that tourist visits will continue to increase, even though the school holiday period coincides with the promotion to new grades and the new student admission period,” said Junaidi, who also serves as the Assistant for Economy and Development of the Banyumas Regional Secretary.
He noted that this optimism is supported by the increasing trend of visits to several tourist destinations and the introduction of new attractions that have proven capable of attracting public interest to Banyumas.
Regarding the temporary closure of one of the routes to Baturraden due to landslide mitigation, he ensured that the situation would not significantly disrupt tourist access, as alternative routes, including the main road on Jalan Raya Baturraden, remain available.
“Other roads remain open. The closure only affects Jalan Baturraden Barat due to a landslide, so tourists can still use other routes to Baturraden,” he emphasised.
Junaidi expressed hope that the school holiday momentum would serve as a driver for growth in the Banyumas tourism sector, while providing economic benefits to businesses and the community surrounding the tourist destinations.
