The Government of Banyumas Regency, Central Java, has been approached by an electric vehicle manufacturer with an investment offer to build 145 charging stations, or public electric vehicle charging stations (SPKLU), at various locations which are assets owned by the local government. "Many things were offered, but the first was actually not about the cars, but rather the installation of charging stations. Around 145 points have been proposed, making it interesting to study," said Banyumas Regent Sadewo Tri Lastiono after receiving an audience with representatives from the electric vehicle manufacturer VinFast in Purwokerto on Tuesday. According to him, the proposed locations for the construction of the SPKLU are spread across various areas of Banyumas, utilising government-owned assets deemed strategic. He stated that the offered cooperation scheme provides an opportunity for additional locally-generated revenue (PAD), because the company will lease land belonging to the local government for the construction of electric vehicle charging facilities. He said the development of electric vehicle charging infrastructure is part of the company’s strategy to expand the electric vehicle market in Indonesia. He noted that the company is offering various promotional programmes, including free charging for three years for users of the Vietnamese electric vehicles. "This is perhaps a different marketing strategy. If other brands focus more on selling cars, this company is building the infrastructure first. The hope is of course that the use of their electric cars will increase," he said.
