Banyumas Police Name Former Bank Employee Suspect in Document Forgery Case
The Banyumas City Police have named a former employee of Bank Mandiri Taspen Purwokerto Branch, identified as N alias D (36), as a suspect in an alleged document forgery case used to deceive a number of customers. “Yes, he has been named a suspect for document forgery,” said Banyumas Police Chief Commissioner Petrus P. Silalahi, accompanied by Criminal Investigation Unit Head Commissioner Ardi Kurniawan, in Purwokerto, Banyumas Regency, Central Java, on Tuesday. He stated that the suspect’s designation followed a report from the bank regarding transaction irregularities that caused customer losses. After receiving the report, investigators immediately conducted a series of inquiries and investigations, including witness examinations, evidence collection, and coordination with forensic experts. Based on the investigation, Petrus continued, the suspect allegedly forged documents by utilising Sub Account Auto Grab Fund (SA AGF) forms that had been invalid since August 2025. “Based on sufficient evidence, the reported individual has been named a suspect,” he asserted. During questioning, suspect N admitted to all his actions and stated that the acts were carried out alone without involving other parties. Suspect N also confessed to having run a similar scheme since 2021 and that the proceeds of his crimes had been spent on personal needs as well as providing returns to other customers. Petrus said that in this document forgery case, a number of pieces of evidence were seized, including fake documents, SA AGF forms, and forensic laboratory results confirming the signature forgery. “The suspect’s motive was to meet personal needs and lifestyle, including the desire to own a house and vehicles,” he said. He emphasised that the Banyumas Police will continue to develop the case and coordinate with public prosecutors for further legal proceedings. The Police Chief urged the public to remain vigilant against financial investment offers or programmes with unclear legality and to ensure all transactions follow official banking procedures. Criminal Investigation Unit Head Commissioner Ardi Kurniawan explained that the alleged document forgery involved the use of old forms that should no longer have been valid following the update of the core banking system. “This refers to Circular Letter Number 20 of August 2025 to all employees of PT Bank Mandiri Taspen in Purwokerto regarding the affirmation of the revocation of savings provisions, namely the application used for customer instalment auto-debit transactions. Since the implementation of the new core banking system, the form has no longer been in effect, and this was known to all employees,” he said. However, Ardi stated, suspect N allegedly still kept copies of the revoked forms. He said suspect N is charged under Article 391 Paragraphs (1) and (2) of Law Number 1 of 2023 concerning the Criminal Code, which carries a maximum penalty of six years’ imprisonment. In addition to investigating the alleged document forgery and fraud, investigators are also developing a case of suspected money laundering, which has been elevated to the investigation stage. However, before issuing an investigation warrant, Ardi continued, investigators are still coordinating with the Purwokerto District Prosecutor’s Office to complete the case file. “We are still coordinating with the prosecutor’s office to complete the money laundering investigation process,” he said. Apart from being reported by Bank Mandiri Taspen in the document forgery case, the former bank employee, identified as N alias D, has also been reported by a number of customers in connection with a bogus investment scheme. In a separate occasion, Bank Mandiri Taspen Corporate Secretary Tulus P. Hutabarat confirmed that the issue at the Purwokerto Branch Office was not a case of fictitious credit or non-performing loans. “All credit disbursement processes have been carried out in accordance with applicable provisions and regulations and through the company’s standard mechanisms,” he said. Based on the ongoing legal process at the Banyumas Police, he said, the case involves alleged fraud and forgery committed by an individual. Internal investigations also indicated that the individual’s actions were a personal initiative, outside operational activities, and not an official product of Bank Mandiri Taspen. Tulus stated that the bank respects the ongoing legal process and will continue to cooperate with law enforcement during the investigation. As an aggrieved party, Bank Mandiri Taspen is committed to supporting the thorough resolution of the case in accordance with the law and continues to communicate actively with customers indicated as victims. Previously, the Banyumas Police had named N alias D as a suspect in a fraudulent investment scheme and he has been detained since 7 June 2026, charged under Article 492 or Article 486 in conjunction with Article 127 of Law Number 1 of 2023 concerning the Criminal Code, which carries a maximum penalty of four years’ imprisonment. In that case, police estimate total victim losses reached approximately Rp25 billion, with more than 100 victims.
