Purwokerto — Banyumas Regional Police are continuing to develop the case of the arrest of a methamphetamine courier bearing the initials DI, who was apprehended by the Narcotics Investigation Unit at Purwokerto Railway Station in Banyumas District, Central Java.

The Head of Banyumas Regional Police, Senior Police Commissioner Petrus P Silalahi, stated in Purwokerto on Tuesday that the investigation expansion is being conducted to uncover the drug trafficking network suspected of involving a perpetrator and supplier from Jakarta.

“We are continuing to develop this case, including tracing the origin of the goods and networks involved,” he said.

He explained that based on preliminary examination, the 200.14 grams of methamphetamine secured from the suspect is believed to have originated from an individual with initials ACO who is currently on the wanted persons list.

“For the drug supplier with initials ACO, our team in Jakarta is currently pursuing him,” he said.

In addition to pursuing the drug supplier, police are investigating the suspect’s potential involvement in a broader network, including indications that the suspect has repeatedly engaged in drug trafficking in the former Banyumas Residency region.

According to him, the suspected trafficking areas include Banyumas, Purbalingga, Banjarnegara, and Cilacap.

“We suspect that the individual in question has not only done this once, but has carried out trafficking multiple times in this agglomeration area,” he said.

“We are still investigating whether the perpetrator has a residence or network in Banyumas and its surroundings, as well as his reasons for getting off at that station,” he added.

He stated that the methamphetamine evidence seized has been sent to the laboratory for further investigation purposes, including to verify the content and quality of the narcotics.

He emphasised that uncovering this network is a priority in order to break the chain of drug trafficking, particularly ahead of and during the Eid homecoming period when criminal activities are prone to exploitation.

“We will continue to develop this case to uncover the larger network,” said Petrus.

A man from West Jakarta, DI (43), was apprehended by Narcotics Investigation Unit officers of Banyumas Regional Police in the car park of Purwokerto Railway Station on Friday, 13 March at approximately 09:38 local time whilst officers were conducting an investigation into suspected drug trafficking in the area.

During a search, evidence was found in the form of two packets of methamphetamine, each packed in transparent clip plastic with a gross weight of 100.11 grams and 100.03 grams, totalling 200.14 grams with an estimated value of approximately 240 million rupiah.

Additionally, officers also seized one mobile phone unit, cash of 163,000 rupiah and a urine sample from the suspect. The methamphetamine evidence seized has been sent to the laboratory for further investigation purposes.

For his actions, the suspect is being charged under Article 114 Paragraph (2) of Law Number 35 of 2009 concerning Narcotics as amended by Law Number 1 of 2026, as well as subsidiary articles relating to possession of narcotics in large quantities.
