Purwokerto — Police in Banyumas District assisted a passenger in recovering a bag containing valuable items that was left behind on a bus at Bulupitu Terminal in Purwokerto, after service post officers responded quickly by tracing the vehicle and ensuring the bag was returned to its owner.

The Head of Banyumas City Police Resort (Polresta) Senior Commissioner of Police Petrus P Silalahi stated in Purwokerto, Banyumas District, Central Java, on Monday that service post officers deployed by Polresta Banyumas at the terminal received the report of the lost items from a female passenger who only realised her bag was missing after disembarking from the bus in arrival area 1.

“Upon receiving the report around 11:15 Western Indonesian Time, officers immediately traced information about the bus’s arrival based on the complainant’s statement and conducted checks at the terminal’s arrival gate,” he said, accompanied by Head of Operation Ketupat Candi (OKC) 2026 Service Post at Bulupitu Terminal Assistant Commissioner of Police Iqbal.

According to him, the lost bag was a white goodie bag containing a wallet, mobile phone, and several other personal items.

He stated that officers subsequently located the bus in question at arrival gate 1.

“Based on the bus conductor’s information, the goodie bag had been found inside the bus and was handed to the driver for safekeeping,” he said.

To ensure ownership of the items, he explained, officers then brought the complainant together with the bus driver.

After verification of the bag’s contents and identification, he continued, the items were confirmed to belong to the complainant and were immediately returned to her.

“The bag was successfully located in complete condition and was immediately returned to its owner. This represents prompt service to the public,” he said.

He stated that the presence of the service post at the terminal forms part of efforts to provide service and security to the public, particularly in supporting the smooth flow of passengers during the 2026 Joint Operations period.

“The integrated service post is also functioning to assist members of the public who face travel difficulties, including lost items and requirements for transport information,” said the Banyumas Police Resort Chief.
